Zoom latest update brings new features to enhance video calling experience

Zoom, the popular video calling app has brought many new features including the latest updates for iPad, desktop and zoom phones. The new update adds ‘Rise Hand’ and ‘Thomas Up’ gestures to the iPad. The update includes a few more interesting features like focus mode, zoom chat sidebar tweaks. Here’s everything to know about the latest zoom updates.

Added more features with Zoom Rise Hand Gesture, Focus Mode, Recent Updates

-Zoom’s latest update brings gesture recognition to the iPad and will now enable users to use visual gestures automatically. At the moment the feature supports Rise Hand and Thumbs up response. Simply put, raising or thumbs up when making a video con call will automatically pop up a hand or thumbs up icon along with the video feed in the zoom meeting. The Rise Hand Virtual Gesture indicates that you have a question and need to mumble.

-There are some changes to the zoom chat sidebar that include markers that indicate whether the channel is private or public. With the update, the sidebar will now show fewer chats and channels per group for desktop clients.

Ators Focus Mode has been added to the platform with teachers in mind. The mode will allow participants in the call to view only limited information on the screen. Host and co-host participants can choose to view in a gallery view at once.

-The update brings mobile desktop call switching without disconnecting. Zoom call admins can now impose restrictions on specific users or stop one from screen-sharing if they join as a ‘guest’.

-For zoom phone updates, shared lines will be able to enable a privacy feature that will prevent others from whispering, listening, receiving a call, making a hold call. However, one will need client version 5.7.6 or higher and the feature is not compatible with desk phones.

Zoom’s support page states that if phone number labels are set on the web portal, they will be displayed on the user’s profile card and dial the paid search results. However, this feature will not be available immediately and will depend on a web release scheduled for August 29th.
