YouTube Premium, YouTube Music Premium annual plans launched in India, starting at Rs 899


Google has finally released the annual plans for its YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium services. Under these plans, users can make upfront payment for 12 months of non-recurring subscription. Earlier, the company used to offer subscription plans only on monthly and quarterly basis.

As an introductory offer, the company is offering customers discounts on annual plans. Additionally, annual plans are currently limited to individual users, meaning student and family account users will not be able to take advantage.

YouTube is offering its premium annual plans until January 23 as part of a promotional offer. Along with the offer, the YouTube Premium annual plan costs Rs 1,159 and the YouTube Music Premium annual plan costs Rs 889. The company has not disclosed this. India pricing, which will be visible after the promotional plan ends.

In comparison, YouTube Premium is currently priced at Rs 129 per month and YouTube Music Premium is priced at Rs 99 per month.

The new annual plans are currently limited to select countries including the US, India, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Japan, Russia, Thailand and Turkey.

Users can make changes to the annual premium plan by canceling their existing subscription and signing up anew. Additionally, prepaid users will automatically be transferred to annual plans once the prepaid plan expires.

YouTube Premium annual plans can be signed up to use Android and the web. However, the company has not yet provided an in-app sign-up option for iOS devices. Because of this, iPhone and iPad users who wish to purchase an annual subscription must complete the purchase using a computer or mobile web browser.

Note, YouTube Premium annual plans are offered on prepaid basis with non-recurring nature. This means you will have to pay upfront for the full annual subscription and manually buy the subscription again after the basic annual plan expires.

To recall, YouTube launched its premium services in India in 2019. Later in the year, the company introduced prepaid plans with non-recurring charges.
