WhatsApp will soon let you send photos in original quality

WhatsApp is testing several features to make the app a full-fledged social media app. Now, according to a report, WhatsApp is testing a key feature that lets you share photos in original quality.

WhatsApp will soon allow you to choose the quality of photos before sending

According to WABetaInfo, the latest beta update for WhatsApp for Android is the update. allowed to User to select the quality of photo before sending. This feature will allow users to send photos in high resolution or original quality.

Sometime back in beta version, WhatsApp was seen allowing users three photo quality options – automatic, best quality and data saver. However, even after selecting the Best quality option, photos were under-compressed. On the other hand, the Data Saver mode compressed the images completely.

But now in the recent beta version, there is a settings button at the top of WhatsApp, tapping on which will allow you to select the photo quality. Then this feature will let you send original-quality photos.

This feature was much anticipated, because every time someone needed a full-quality photo, they had to send it via document. The process was a hassle for iOS users as they had to first save the images as documents in the Files app and then send the document versions.

The new feature will also make WhatsApp compete with Telegram as it has many other useful features.

It is unclear when WhatsApp will roll out the feature to the public. However, since it was spotted in beta version, it is expected to arrive in a few months.

In other news, WhatsApp is also testing the Voice Status feature, which will let users record their own voice notes. This can save some time as opposed to typing, but the usefulness will vary from person to person.

Other features that WhatsApp is testing include a camera mode, proxy, block shortcuts, and more.
