WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature to find contacts: How it will work


WhatsApp is giving you a new option to find contacts. The instant messaging application owned by Meta will allow users to search instantly from the contact information page. The beta feature has been rolled out for some beta users.

The new feature was spotted by WABetaInfo, a website that rolls out the latest features for beta users of the messaging application. The Contact Information page got a facelift last year. Now WhatsApp is adding this new search shortcut to the redesigned Contacts page.

The report shares a screenshot of the new contact information page. Within the updated contact information page, WhatsApp shows a new search icon next to the video calling button. The new shortcut is being rolled out for some Android beta testers.

Similar shortcuts for searching have also been reported on some WhatsApp group chat information. The report claims that the new feature is part of the beta version, so there is no problem with it.

How to get new feature

To get the new search shortcut, Android users will need to update their application on the Google Play Store to beta version However, you still cannot see the option. WhatsApp may roll it out to a wider audience at a later date.

WhatsApp may also borrow a new feature from its parent company Facebook. Use of cover photos is shown in some WhatsApp Business accounts. The cover photo is like a big banner of a contact, just like Facebook profile pages work.

Businesses will be able to change their coverphoto to attract buyers or disseminate some important information. The feature is expected to roll out to non-business WhatsApp accounts as well.
