WhatsApp is rolling out 21 new emoji for some beta testers for Android. According to WABetaInfo, there is no longer a need to download and use separate keyboards to send these 21 emoji from the latest Unicode 15.0, as they can now be sent directly from the official WhatsApp keyboard.
Earlier, the new 21 emoji were not visible in the official WhatsApp keyboard as they were under development, but it was possible to send them using alternative keyboards.
Furthermore, the report states that the introduction of the new emoji has put an end to the users’ confusing problem, as they could receive these emoji but were unable to send them without a workaround.
According to the report, some users will be able to access the new emoji from the official WhatsApp keyboard starting today, even on different versions of the app.
The report states that in order to increase the chances of your account being enabled, it is still recommended that you keep WhatsApp updated to the latest version.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature – “silence unknown callers” – that will allow users to mute calls from unknown numbers by showing them in the call list and notification center.
The new feature is currently under development on WhatsApp Beta for Android. WhatsApp is rolling out a new “Push Name in the Chat List” feature on iOS beta. As reported by WABetaInfo, beta testers will now see the Push name in the chat list instead of the phone number every time they receive a message from an unknown member of the group.
WhatsApp to start ‘push names in chat list’
This feature will make it easier for the users to understand who the unknown contact is without having to save the number as a new contact.
This will be useful for participants in large group chats where it is difficult to keep track of who is who.
The report states that the feature is currently available to some beta testers who install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app and is expected to roll out to more users in the coming days.
