WhatsApp is offering users new incentives to switch to its payment platform. The messaging application recently got its nod to roll out the payment facility to 100 million users across India. WhatsApp Payments is a UPI-based system integrated into the messaging platform.

To bring more customers to WhatsApp Payments, the Meta-owned application will introduce a cashback offer. A WhatsApp spokesperson told BGR.in that they will be rolling out the cashback feature in a phased manner. If you are one of those users who got a chance to use the payment option, then you may soon get the cashback option. The company claims to have a broader objective of bringing the next 500 million Indians into the digital payments ecosystem.

A WhatsApp spokesperson said, “We are running a campaign offering our users cashback incentives in a phased manner as a way of unlocking the ability to pay on WhatsApp. Safe, secure and easy-to-use digital payments are an important part of growing India’s digital economy, and we will continue to raise awareness about payments on WhatsApp as part of our broader efforts to bring the next 500 million Indians to digital . payment ecosystem. ,

An earlier report by Reuters also details the amount that users can expect in the form of cashback. It claims that WhatsApp will offer up to Rs 33 for transfers made using the payment option.

Interestingly, this cashback cannot be limited to the amount to be transacted. Cashback will be spread over three transactions. Even for a transaction of less than Re 1, WhatsApp will count it as a valid transaction.

To get the cashback, you will first need to send money to a WhatsApp contact who has registered for payments on WhatsApp in India. If your contact is registered for payment on WhatsApp, you will see a gift icon next to their name. If you don’t see a gift icon next to your contact’s name, you need to invite them to join the payment on WhatsApp before sending them any amount to get the Rs 11 cashback.
