To recall, WhatsApp last month launched an end-to-end encrypted cloud backup as an optional feature. The feature allows users to secure their data history available in Google Drive and iCloud. Turning on the feature will allow anyone to back up their message history on WhatsApp from a third party.

Notably, the Instant Messaging app offers the option to use a 64-bit encryption key for the added layer instead of creating a new password. However, according to WhatsApp Tracker, encryption key support is only available for beta testers in iOS.

If you have an iOS device and have a beta tester, you can check end-to-end encrypted cloud backup by going to WhatsApp Settings> Chat> Chat Backup> End-to-End Encrypted Backup. But before you proceed, make sure to disable “WhatsApp” for backing up your device, as it is not end-to-end encrypted. This can be done by opening the iPhone settings then Name> iCloud> Manage Storage> Backup> Disable WhatsApp.

In addition to end-to-end encrypted backups, WhatsApp has been seen testing a global voice message player feature that allows users to listen to voice messages even after they leave the chat window. Such as WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will provide the option to pause and reject voice messages at any time. In addition, the company has found it as a redesigned contact information section for Android. According to screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, users will see existing chat, audio and video buttons just below their contacts’ profile photos.
