Volkswagen appoints Porsche CEO after Diess step down


Volkswagen Group President and CEO Herbert Diess is stepping down from his position at the company and will be replaced by Porsche CEO Oliver Bloom.

Bloom will take over as Chairman of the Group Management Board and at the same time continue as Chairman of Dr. Ing’s Board of Management. HC F Porsche AG. He will assume this post from September 1.

“Oliver Bloom has proven his operational and strategic skills in various positions within the Group and across multiple brands and has managed Porsche AG with great success for seven years from a financial, technical and cultural standpoint,” said Hans, President of Supervisory Dieter Potsch said. The board said in a statement.

“From a supervisory board perspective, he is now the right person to lead the group and further enhance its customer focus and positioning of its brands and products,” Potts said.

Bloom joined the Volkswagen Group in 1994 and since then, he has held management positions for the Audi, Seat, Volkswagen and Porsche brands.

He has been Chairman of the Board of Management at Porsche since 2015 and a member of the Group Management Board since 2018.

The Supervisory Board also resolved that Group CFO Arno Entlitz would additionally assume the position of COO and thus assist Bloom with day-to-day operations.
