Vivo is reportedly developing a foldable smartphone that will go up against Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold, Oppo Find N and more. While all these have remained as a rumour, a new leak suggests that the company is all set to enter the foldable smartphone market soon with its Vivo X Fold. The leak also gives us our first look at the upcoming device.
Vivo X Fold live photos were posted on Chinese social media platform Weibo. The images showed the foldable smartphone being used in a Chinese metro station with a thick protective case meant to hide the identity of the device before launching it to the public.
From the looks of it, the Vivo X Fold sports a square-shaped inward folding display with no obvious crease in the middle, unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 3. As per earlier reports, the no crease design is due to the company’s intricate hinge mechanism. , which also allows for gapless folding of the display. It is also being said that the folding display uses Samsung’s Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) technology instead of a plastic display like the Motorola Razr.
Earlier leaks suggest that the upcoming device will sport an 8-inch Quad HD+ folding display with 120Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset paired with Adreno 730 GPU. The device will house a 4,600mAh battery with 80W fast charging support and 50W fast wireless charging support.
In the previous report, we got to see the plans of the upcoming smartphone, which showed cover display with a curved edge and a center aligned hole-punch camera. At the back is a circular quad camera module housed inside a rectangular block.
