A new handheld gaming console has been launched to take over the valve steam deck, the Nintendo Switch. Steam deck, a compact PC cum console is powered by custom steam. Although the form factor is similar to other gaming consoles, it is stronger than its rival Nintendo Switch.
Valve Steam Deck Gaming Console Price, Availability
The Valve Steam Deck Base version with GB4 GB will be priced at 39 9,399 (approximately Rs. 29,800), the 256 GB model comes at 52 529 (approximately Rs. 29,500) and the higher-version with 512 GB is priced at 64 9,649 (approximately Rs. 48,400). The handheld gaming PC cum console will be available for purchase in the United States, Canada, the European Union and the United Kingdom in December 2021.
Valve Steam gaming console specs, configuration
The Valve Steam handheld gaming console has a 7-inch 60Hz LCD display with 1280 x 800 resolution as the main specs. The screen comes with a 16:10 aspect ratio and has touch support. The top-end model has an anti-glare etching glass for display.
It is powered by a custom APU using the AMD Zen2 and RDNA2 architectures, which is roughly the equivalent of an ‘AMD Radion RX6000 series graphics card and a Raisin 3000 processor.’ The custom AMD APU has a 4-core, 8-thread CPU with 8 RDNA2CU GPUs. Valve’s new gaming console starts with 16 GB of RAM and native memory with 4 GB of EMMC storage. There is also an option to insert a microSD card in the gaming console.
As mentioned earlier, the Valve Steam Deck Handheld Gaming PC (or console) will run on a custom version of Stimos which means you will be able to throttle your entire gaming library locally. With a valve in an FAQ session IGN Mentioned that it does not limit what kind of software users can run on the device, which means that one can install any one type of program and be able to switch with Steamos Windows. Another aspect that sets Valve Steam apart from its competitors is the unique keys format that is placed in the ‘same plane’ as the analog key. Analog sticks are placed on either side of the display with the ABXY key on the right and a D-pad on the other. The steam deck has a 6-axis gyroscope which means you will move faster while shooting and killing opponents.
For those who like racing games, the gaming console can be a hot pick, as the steam deck features four analog triggers on top for comfortable use. There are four additional buttons on the back of the console that are customizable.
Significantly, the Steam Deck comes with Steam Cloud support, so you can either play on the PC or go back to the console anytime you want.
