UPI transaction limit daily: How to fix issues when payment fails


UPI has made life easier for most of us. Payment mode is easily one of the most used digital methods. Ease of payment can sometimes reach your daily limit. Yes, there can be a daily limit for transactions on UPI.

There are many apps, banks and various permutations and combinations involved when you pay over UPI. Non-banking apps like PhonePe and GPay still own the lion’s share of the number of transactions. You may encounter a failed transaction quite often and one of the reasons could be the daily limit.

There are daily and monthly limits on how much money you can send or receive. The limits may be different for the app you are using, UPI or your bank.

Possible reasons for reaching the daily limit:

-You try to send more than ₹1,00,000 in a day on all UPI apps.
You try to send money more than 10 times in a day on all UPI apps.
You request more than ₹2,000 from someone.

How to fix these issues?

-You can either wait until the next day to send more money
-Otherwise you can request a smaller amount

What to do if you reach your bank limit

If your daily transactions are below the UPI limit and you’re still having problems, try a different bank account. Your bank may have its own limits on how much you can send or receive. You can also contact your bank directly for more details and clarity regarding the failure of the transaction.

Other Limitations

To protect against fraud, some transactions may be flagged for further review. If you’re having trouble making a transaction and don’t think you’ve reached a limit, contact the support team of the UPI app you’re using.

Fun Fact: You cannot transact less than Re 1 through UPI. You will get an error message.
