The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced that it will allow Aadhaar holders to update their documents free of cost which will benefit lakhs of residents.
As of now, Aadhaar holders have to pay a minimum fee of Rs 50 to update their documents. This is true for updates done online through Aadhaar’s self-service portal and offline at Aadhaar Seva Kendras. However, now UIDAI has announced that it will let Aadhaar holders update all their documents through the myAadhaar self-service portal free of cost for the next three months till June 14, 2023.
It is worth noting that this service is free only on the myAadhaar portal and Aadhaar holders will still have to pay a fee of Rs 50 to update their details by visiting physical Aadhaar centres. Further, after June 14, when the time period for free online update is coming to an end, Aadhaar holders will have to pay the specified fee even if they use the self-service portal online.
