Facebook is no longer the most downloaded social media app in the world. Came from a recent report Nikki AsiaThe popular Chinese video-sharing app Tiktok has surpassed Facebook to become the most downloaded social media app worldwide.

Developed by Bitdance, TickTock was banned in India a few months ago due to the Chinese government’s controversy over sharing user information. Although we all thought that Indian sanctions could affect the company’s global position, that did not happen. In fact, the epidemic has pushed more and more people to join the short video-making platform for entertainment. Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook is currently downloaded by more than one trillion people in the world.

Not just ticks, the epidemic has pushed small video platforms in general. People start making interesting short videos in their spare time and share them with their family and friends. TickTock is one of the reasons for beating Facebook to become the most downloaded social media application in the world.

Another factor that has accelerated the rise of ticks, especially in the United States, is the lifting of sanctions imposed by the government during the Trump presidency. The Biden government lifted the ban on Chinese apps, including TickTock and WeChat, which were apparently added to the number of TickTock in the states.

TikTok is banned in India

The Government of India banned the short video platform TikTok in 2020 along with PUBG Mobile, Camscaner and other Chinese applications. These apps were banned in the country under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.

Since the ban on tickets, several indigenous small video platforms like Chingari, Mitron, Roposo have been growing aggressively. To replace TickTock in the country, Facebook-owned photo sharing app Instagram has also launched Reels, which allows users to post short creative videos and share them with everyone on the platform. Also, YouTube introduced shorts, which allow users to create short videos again and share them with everyone.
