JioPhone Next is touted as the most    affordable    smartphone yet, but is it really?



JioPhone Next has been released in India after a long wait. The Jio-Google smartphone was first announced at the company’s annual general meeting earlier this year. The Android smartphone comes at an “entry” or “effective” price of Rs 1,999. This means that customers will have to make a down payment of Rs 1,999 to buy JioPhone Next but not only that. There are many conditions attached to the offer.

The real price

The JioPhone Next is actually priced at Rs 6,499 and is available on many cheaper Android phones than brands like Micromax, itel, Samsung, Nokia. Some of the options of JioPhone Next include: Nokia 8110, Samsung Galaxy M01 Core. itel A26, Micromax iOne, among others. To stand out from the competition, Reliance is making it easier for Geo customers to purchase JioPhone Next with EMI options and bundled data offers.

Jio is offering four EMI plans for customers who are planning to buy JioPhone Next. These plans are divided into four categories – Always-On Plan, Large Plan, XL Plan and XXL Plan. These EMI plans also come with data and calling facilities.

Through these EMIs or financial plans, Geophone Next is making it easy for Geo customers to get a price of Rs. 1999 at first but in the end they have to pay a monthly EMI + Rs. Firm. This totals a lot more. For example, customers with a base EMI plan will have to pay Rs 9,199 for JioPhone Next and additional calling and data benefits.

Significantly, processing fees vary for different financial institutions, and Jio has no role to play.

The EMI plan brings data benefits

There are four EMI options and an estimate of how much you will pay at the end of the EMI period:

– Always on plan – It comes to 300 rupees / month for 24 months, 350 rupees / month for 18 months Total Price of JioPhone Next: Rs 9699 and Rs 8799 (Includes EMI Price + Down Payment + EMI Processing Fee)

Big plan – 450 rupees / month for 24 months, 500 rupees / month for 18 months. Total Price of JioPhone Next: Rs 13299 and Rs 11499 (Includes EMI Price + Down Payment + EMI Processing Fee)

XL plan – 500 rupees / month for 24 months, 550 rupees / month for 18 months. Total Price of JioPhone Next: Rs 14499 and Rs 12399 (Includes EMI Price + Down Payment + EMI Processing Fee)

XXL plan – 550 rupees / month for 24 months, 600 rupees / month for 18 months. JioPhone Total Price Next: Rs 15,699 and Rs 13,299 (Including EMI Price + Down Payment + EMI Processing Fee)

If you do not choose an EMI option, Jio lets you pay Rs 6499 directly and avoid additional processing fees. The advantage you get with EMI options is the additional data and calling benefits.

– Always on plan -This plan offers 5GB of data and 100 minutes of calls per month.

Big plan – This plan offers 1.5 GB of data and unlimited calls per day.

XL plan – Under this plan, JioPhone Next users will get 2GB of data and unlimited calls per day.

XXL plan – This plan offers 2.5 GB of data and unlimited calls per day
