Tata cars now expensive due to increase in the price of passenger vehicles

Tata Motors has announced a hike in the prices of all its passenger vehicles. An average increase of 0.55 per cent in the prices of cars across all segments came into effect from Sunday. This means that any car will come with a slightly increased price tag depending on the variant and model. However, since the hike is less than one per cent, it is not likely to have much impact on the pockets of the customers.

“The company has taken comprehensive measures to absorb a significant portion of the increased input cost. However, to offset the residual effect of the accumulated increase in input cost, it is passing on the minimum price hike,” said Tata Motors.

The price hike comes close on the heels of Tata Motors’ earnings report, which highlighted a massive 48 per cent year-on-year jump in global sales during the first quarter of 2022-23. The company, which includes luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover, said it sold over 3.16 lakh units at the end of June quarter this year. In the last month, Tata Motors sold over 45,000 passenger vehicles in India, of which 3,507 were electric vehicles (EVs) while the rest were ICE models.

Popular cars from Tata Motors like Hexa, Nexon, Tiago, Punch, Altroz, Harrier and Safari will now cost you more. However, individual prices of each vehicle are not available. However, the quantum of price hike is likely to be revealed soon, so that customers have clarity. Tata Motors’ EVs, Tata Tigor EV and Tata Nexon EV Max are also likely to see a price hike. Notably, Tata Motors recently increased the prices of its commercial vehicle range by 1.5 to 2.5 per cent earlier this month.
