What is an alternative identification project?
After the Tamil Nadu government announced the cancellation of the 12th State Board examination due to the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic, it said the results would be prepared on the basis of alternative identification. The planners said 50 percent of the weight of the results would be given to 10th grade board exam scores (average in three high-quality subjects), 20 percent to Class 11 board exams, and finally 30 percent to practical, internal assessments of the class.
Interestingly, in 2020, about 99.99 lakh students who took the Tamil Nadu HSE exam cleared it. The pass rate was recorded at 92.3 percent, the highest in the last five years.
