Spotify’s Car Thing gets new features including queuing up songs, answering calls and more

Spotify recently launched its Car Thing in the US and now, the company is back with new features and controls for the device. For those unaware, Spotify’s Car Thing is a $90 device that’s basically an infotainment system for your car. music streaming platform is now announced That device can now be used to answer phone calls and add tracks and podcasts to the queue.

According to Spotify, “Add to Queue” is one of the most requested features that is now available to its users. You can add your favorite track or podcast to a playlist by tapping on the display, long pressing on the track, or you can give a voice command by saying “Hey Spotify, cue ‘drivers license’.” To view queued songs and podcasts, You can simply say “Hey Spotify, open my queue” or hold down the dial in the “Now Playing” view.

As mentioned earlier, Spotify’s Car Thing can now take and dismiss incoming calls. The device can also let you switch between media with presets, or voice, or simply by tapping the screen.

According to Spotify, users can now ask Car Thing to play music according to their mood. They can give commands like “Hey Spotify, play Casual Sunday RnB.” Spotify will quickly create personalized playlists and play it for you

According to a statement from Spotify, “Bringing these much-anticipated new features to Car Thing is part of Spotify’s ongoing commitment to a truly frictionless experience for users across all devices, whether in the car, at home, or on the go.” Already a Car Thing user? No worries, the update will automatically roll out to iOS users!”

Car Thing can also work with USB, Bluetooth and AUX. It has a knob, a color touchscreen, voice control feature and more. Notably, it does not come with a speaker, therefore, it will use the car’s speaker.
