Snapchat’s parent company Snap has introduced its new Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot for Snapchat. It is powered by the latest version of OpenAI’s GPT technology.
The “My AI” chatbot is available as an experimental feature for Snapchat+ customers and will begin rolling out this week, the company said in a blogpost on Monday. “My AI can recommend birthday gift ideas for your BFF, plan a hiking trip for a long weekend, suggest a recipe for dinner, or even make your Might as well write a haiku about cheese for a cheddar-obsessed friend.”

Users can also name the chatbot and customize the wallpaper for their chats. My AI, like other AI-powered chatbots, is prone to hallucinations and can be tricked into saying almost anything.
Today, we’re starting to roll out My AI to Snapchat+ subscribers in the US — your personal AI sidekick located right in your chats. Chat or just write a haiku about your bestie! say hello now ?https://t.co/DQpYimLLU8

While My AI is designed to avoid biased, inaccurate, dangerous or misleading content of any kind, mistakes can still happen.
Also, users can press and hold on any message from My AI to provide feedback.
“Please be aware of its many shortcomings and apologize in advance! All interactions with My AI will be stored and may be reviewed to improve the product experience.”
It says, ‘Please don’t share any secrets with My AI and don’t rely on it for advice.’
This comes after Microsoft’s Bing was updated with OpenAI’s GPT-4 model. Many users complained that they got strange responses from the search engine. To this end, Microsoft announced that Bing could be triggered to respond outside its “designed tone”. Learning from this, Snapchat is already informing its users that its chatbot already has ‘many flaws’. It also apologizes in advance if such a situation arises.
