Samsung wants to add some fun elements to the traditional projector. At CES 2022, the tech company introduced the Freestyle, an ultraportable smart TV projector that goes beyond the basics of delivering a home theater experience.
The projector, which looks like a floor light, comes with a 180-degree cradle stand and can project content at 1080p on a wall at 30-inch by 100-inch distances. The lightweight projector is powered by Samsung’s Tizen-based smart TV experience. It features auto-focus and also has auto-leveling capabilities. For audio, Samsung has integrated 360-degree sound. Also will be able to stream content on leading OTT platforms like Netflix, with access to Samsung’s Smart TV platform.
To enhance the experience, Samsung has added a list of accessories including a lens cap that can create mood lighting, a waterproofing case for outdoor use, and a USB-C portable battery for outlet-free projecting. There is also a base that allows the projector to be screwed into the light bulb socket. According to the company, the Freestyle is compatible with USB-PD and outputs of 50-watt/20-volt or above.
“The Freestyle is a unique projector geared toward ultimate versatility and flexibility to meet the changing lifestyles of consumers… Without limits in location and form factor, the Freestyle is a fun and versatile device that can be used in any The way consumers prefer,” said Simon Sung, executive vice president and head of the sales and marketing team for the visual display business at Samsung Electronics.
As for the pricing, the Freestyle will cost $899 and will be available for pre-order in the US starting January 4th and will reach other markets around the world in the coming months. Along with projectors, Samsung has announced a slew of TVs at CES 2022, including the latest iteration of The Fame. The Neo QLED and MicroLED models have also been updated. Talking about the Freestyle, it has joined the lifestyle collection of Samsung’s 2022 TVs.
