Samsung usually hosts its Galaxy Unpacked event every year in August, in which it launches its next generation of foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip smartphones. However, the news is that the company may launch its foldable-display smartphone as early as this year.
according to a reports Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in July this year amid growing competition in the foldables market. The report states that the launch will take place in the last week of July between July 25 and July 27 and that it will unveil its next-gen smartwatches, i.e. Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Tab S9 series as well as its next-gen earbuds at the event.
While these dates aren’t too far ahead of the August dates that the company typically chooses to launch its flagship devices, they represent a major shift in the company’s foldable strategy. If the move is true, it would represent an acknowledgment from Samsung at a time when competition in the foldable market is heating up. Google is expected to showcase its first foldable display smartphone at Google I/O 2023, dubbed as Google Pixel Fold. OnePlus is also likely to unveil its first foldable smartphone in the third quarter of the year. Apart from these, Oppo and Tecno have already launched their foldable devices while Motorola is planning to launch its next-gen Moto Razr soon.
