Samsung launches the 2022 lineup of Neo QLED 8K smart TVs. The South Korean brand also introduced some new soundbars and accessories at its Virtual Unbox and Discover events.
The 2022 Neo QLED 8K has been upgraded to offer a bigger screen. The new line-up of smart TVs uses the 8K neural quantum processor. Samsung claims that this processor has 20 independent neural AI networks, each of which analyzes content characteristics and picture quality.
The processor also powers the Real Depth Enhancer that scans the screen, and maximizes contrast with the background by magnifying objects while keeping the background unprocessed. Samsung claims that this new feature works similar to the way the human eye sees images in real life, so the object on the screen stands out against the background.
Samsung claims that the processor and Quantum Mini LED make bright areas bright and the dark space around it dark. For example, the full moon will be brighter than a dark night sky.
Samsung claims that its 2022 QLED models authentically reproduce over 2,000 colors as well as the newly added 110 skin tone shades found in Pantone’s guidelines. Additionally, Samsung offers a new iComfort Mode. The feature uses AI technology to automatically adjust screen brightness and color temperature based on how the room is combined with sunset/sunrise information.
Samsung claims that the AI on SmartTVs analyzes what’s on the screen in real time so that the Adaptive Sound feature can track and move between speakers to accurately match the motion on the screen.
In the QN900B, a flagship Neo QLED 8K model, all sounds come from a 90W 6.2.4 channel audio system featuring Dolby Atmos with Object Tracking Sound Pro. This technology has also been applied for voice recognition with voice tracking sound.
Samsung is also offering wireless Dolby Atmos without an HDMI connection in its Neo QLED 4K and 8K TVs. Wireless Dolby Atmos will also be implemented on Samsung’s new 2022 Ultra Slim soundbar.
