Every year, Samsung launches the Galaxy S-series flagship phones with two chipset variants – Snapdragon and in-house Exynos processors. Typically, the Snapdragon variant is tipped for the US and China, while the Exynos-powered variant is sold in the European and Indian markets.

This year, however, even the Indian region got the Snapdragon variant. Now, it appears that, once again, Samsung will introduce the Snapdragon variant in more markets, including India. In fact, as per a new report, Samsung may not release the Exynos variant at all.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed that Qualcomm will be the sole processor supplier to Samsung this year. This means that this year only the Galaxy S23 models powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon will be there.

For those unaware, last year, there were more Snapdragon-powered models and a nearly 70 percent shipment ratio. Now, according to the analyst, thanks to TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing, Samsung may opt for a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor for the Galaxy S23.

Kuo said the Exynos 2300 cannot compete with the SM8550 (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2), as the SM8550 is more optimized and efficient. If that happens, Qualcomm will increase the market share of its SM8550 in 2023, benefiting both Qualcomm and TSMC.

The analyst also revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or SM8550 will deliver more computing power than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. That said, we are looking at a powerful and efficient chip when we consider the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Samsung is yet to confirm whether it will fully use Qualcomm chips for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 series. But earlier this year, Samsung Mobile President TM Roh confirmed that the company will try to use a processor unique to Galaxy phones. Now, we are not sure whether this testimony was for the Galaxy S23 flagship or not.

Still, we’ll see it next year. The Samsung Galaxy S23 series will likely launch in Q1 2023. Some early rumors suggest that the Galaxy S23 will come with a 200MP Samsung HM1 ISOCELL sensor. Also, some concept renders reveal what the Galaxy S23 Ultra might look like, for we have covered that in a separate story.

After the launch of Samsung Galaxy S23 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, 200MP cameras first appeared on BGR India.
