Telecom companies in India were asked to introduce a new plan that would offer a validity of 30 days, not 28 days. This demand of TRAI was first fulfilled by Reliance Jio. Now Airtel has also introduced its 30 day plan.

We will compare the new airtel plan with the closest alternative to Jio. In such a situation, Airtel’s Rs 296 plan will be compared to Jio’s Rs 296 plan.

Airtel Rs 296 plan

Airtel has complied with TRAI’s latest order to provide at least one 30-day plan with calling and data benefits. A total of 25GB data is available in the plan of Rs 296. Data tariff will be charged at 50p/MB after the quota is met. As mentioned earlier, it offers a validity of 30 days for the given amount of data. With this special pack, you also get unlimited voice calling. Users will also get 100 SMS daily.

Additional benefits include a free trial of Amazon Prime Video for 30 days. However, the benefit will be available only once per user. Users will also get the benefit of Apollo 24/7 Circle at no extra cost for 3 months. User will be eligible for 1 year free courses to upskill with Shaw Academy. Users will also get a cashback of Rs 100 on FASTag. You also get free access to Wynk Music.

Reliance Jio Rs 296 plan

The new Reliance Jio plan is priced at Rs 296 and also offers a validity of 30 days. It also offers the same amount of data which is 25GB. After the data limit is exhausted, the subscriber will get internet at 64kbps speed. Unlimited voice calling is also available in this plan. In terms of subscription, the company is offering services from JioTV, JioCinema, JioSecurity and JioCloud.

Decision

Both the plans are very comparable to each other. With the same amount of data and validity on offer, you can only differentiate the additional benefits from the brands. While Jio offers its own bundle of services, Airtel is offering some benefits in the form of Amazon Prime India membership, access to some online courses and a few others. One aspect where Airtel is lagging is the post-quota data prices. The company claims that it will charge 50p/mb which seems a bit fast.
