Redmi India announced its partnership with Reliance Jio to test the 5G network live. These tests were being conducted exclusively for the upcoming Redmi K50i. The company claims that the tests yielded positive results. Redmi K50i will be launched on July 20.
Redmi K50i will be the first Redmi device to be equipped with 12 5G bands – n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28a, n38, n40, n41, n77, n78. Additionally, the test also assessed the differences between the latest technology from Redmi India and 5G network from Reliance Jio.
Redmi India claims that the 5G trial was done in an out-of-lab setup. This helped create more real life tests. The Redmi K50i was tested for 4K streaming and cloud gaming scenarios requiring high speed and low latency. The company claims that the device offered a lag-free online gaming experience and buffer-free streaming of 8K videos.
Redmi K50i Specifications
The Redmi K50i will be the first K-series smartphone to be launched in India in the last few years. The new phones will be placed in the mid-range segment, a segment that is hotter than phones from OnePlus, Samsung, Poco, Realme and others.
The Redmi K50i is expected to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset. The phone can have a 6.6-inch IPS LCD display with FullHD + resolution with 144Hz refresh rate.
For optics, the phone is expected to get a standard triple camera setup with 64MP main lens, 8MP ultra-wide sensor and 2MP macro lens. The front camera will make use of a 16MP selfie snapper.
The device draws power from a 5,080mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging. The phone will use MIUI 13 and will be based on Android 12 OS. We also know that the phone may weigh 200 grams and will have a thickness of 8.8mm.
