Next year will start with a lot of new launches. Brands like OnePlus and Redmi have already revealed plans to launch their next smartphones. There are many other phones that are expected to arrive next year. A list of these phones was tweeted by a tipster, but it does not mention anything about Poco’s upcoming lineup. This list did not go unnoticed by Poco India chief Himanshu Tandon.
Responding to Yogesh Brar, who released the list of smartphones expected in 2023 excluding Poco phones, Tandon was quick to remind that the Poco X5 series is also coming. The country head of Poco India hinted that the Poco X5 series will launch in the country in February. February is also when OnePlus will launch its next flagship, the OnePlus 11, in India.
Tandon’s confirmation on Twitter comes days after a Poco device, which is expected to launch as the Poco X5, appeared on the website of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as well as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The model number of the phone is 22101320I. We have also previously spotted a variant of this device with model number 22101320C on China’s 3C and IMDA certification platforms. The ‘I’ at the end of the model number as seen on the BIS website could mean the Indian variant, while the ‘C’ could mean the Chinese variant.
Tandon didn’t share anything about the upcoming phone, but thanks to these listings and rumours, we have an idea of what the Poco X5 series will be like.
The Poco X5 could house a 4900mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging technology. It could run Android 13-based MIUI 14, which was recently launched alongside the Xiaomi 13 series. Rest of the specifications like display size and technology and processor are still unknown but we might learn more about these aspects in the coming days.
