2023 will be crucial for the PS5 platform

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) Platform Experience SVP, Hideaki Nishino revealed some details about the plans for 2023 in an interview. famitsu in Japan.

Nishino said, “By the end of fiscal year 2022, cumulative sales will exceed 37 million units, and we believe this will be very significant for the platform as well. I hope you look forward to next year.”

Although he didn’t explicitly mention anything about PS5, he did confirm that 2023 will be an important year for the platform (PS5).

This hints that something big could happen for the platform in 2023 as PS5 sales will exceed 37 million units.

Previous reports have suggested that the PlayStation 5 Pro may launch soon. Insider Gaming reported that Sony could be planning to launch a new PS5 as early as 2023.

The new PS5 may have a detachable disc drive

Earlier, the new PS5 or PS5 Pro was reported to come with a detachable disc drive. This was said to reduce the company’s shipping and manufacturing costs. Also, it will allow users to decide whether they want a disc drive or not.

There are currently two versions of the Sony PS5 – digital and disc. The rumored PS5 is likely to have a USB Type-C port for connecting detachable drives.
