OnePlus launched the OnePlus 10 Pro smartphone in China earlier this year. The phone comes with some exclusive specifications, including Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, 50MP rear camera, 120Hz display and wireless charging technology. While the phone is a powerhouse, the same cannot be said about its durability.
YouTuber Jack Nelson and creator of the JerryRigEverything channel put the newly launched OnePlus 10 Pro through their durability test. Normally, you would expect a flagship smartphone from a company like OnePlus, but that’s not the case with the OnePlus 10 Pro. When the YouTuber tried to fold the phone with the display side up, the rear glass (along with some of the phone’s internal components) broke. The crack lines are visible under the rear camera module of the phone, which shows that the phone is structurally weak in that area. Interestingly, the phone still works perfectly. You can see Nelson using the display and even turning on the rear camera module’s flash.
When he twisted the OnePlus 10 Pro to the other side, i.e. to fold it to the other side (with the rear glass facing down), the phone broke in half. If you don’t want to watch the full video but just want to watch the part where the phone is broken, you can start the video at 6:57 minutes.
Oddly, the OnePlus 10 Pro’s flashlight can be seen working even after the phone has been broken into two parts and the internal components of the phone are visible, indicating that the phone broke right above the battery. “OnePlus 10 Pro doesn’t survive the JerryRig Everything durability test. “It breaks in half… quite catastrophically,” the YouTuber wrote in the description of the video.
That said, Nelson pushes the OnePlus 10 Pro to its limits, which is unlikely to hold up in everyday use, unless you’re subjecting it to your own durability test. However, testing shows that the phone is susceptible to damage if pushed too far.
