Netflix is finally letting people play games on Android

Netflix could launch its video game streaming service next year, at no extra cost

Netflix recently unveiled plans to take up gaming, and the same idea is finally taking shape. The popular video streaming platform has officially started gaming testing on its Android app, and the first available games are inspired by the popular Netflix core series: Stranger Things.

Stranger Things 1984 and Stranger Things 3 will now be available to play on the Netflix app. The company said the same in a tweet. However, if you think that you will finally be able to combine your love for Netflix shows and gaming, it will be nothing.

Netflix and gaming, anyone?

This is primarily because Netflix is currently testing gaming in Poland. Therefore, only a few people in that region will be able to test it. The OTT platform warns people that this initiative is really at an early stage and there is still a lot of work to be done before it starts reaching more people.

For those who don’t know, Netflix confirmed its plans for gaming last month and suggested that it would be a key section for it, much like the original movies, shows and scripted shows.

Although we don’t know more about this yet, one exciting thing is that the gaming platform will be a part of the subscription plan. Therefore, you do not have to pay any extra money.

Since Netflix started with its existing Stranger Things games, we can expect the app to get more headlines from Netflix. There is a high probability that this will include more third party games for users to choose from a variety of options.

The new move will help Netflix explore a whole new category and compete with rivals in Google Stadia, Xbox Pass, Apple Arcade and more. Since Netflix will not charge extra for gaming, it seems to have an edge from the others. But, we have to wait for the product to mature so that we can give a verdict.
