Netflix is arguably a great video streaming platform, along with the likes of Amazon Prime Video, Disney + Hotstar and many more. The company is now expanding its video game streaming business to the likes of Microsoft, Google, Nvidia and more, according to a new report.
According to a report Bloomberg, Netflix plans to roll out its video game streaming platform by next year. The games will be shown live alongside TV shows and movies that are already available to Netflix subscribers. Moreover, Netflix does not want to upcharge customers for this content.
“According to a person familiar with the situation, the idea is to deliver video games on Netflix’s streaming platform within the next year. The game will appear alongside new hires as well as new hires – similar to what Netflix did with documentaries or stand-up specials. “
The report further states that Netflix has hired Mike Verdu, a former employee of Electronic Arts and Facebook, to start the process. Netflix will continue to build its gaming segment in the coming months. The company has also advertised some new introductions for these positions on their website.
Some of the files in the Netflix app for iOS also hint at game streaming options. However, this will present a big problem for Netflix in iOS. Streaming giants Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Nvidia faced the same challenges that Apple rejected their cloud gaming offers in the App Store.
This report does not appear in the list of video games available on Netflix. But it is expected to start with just a small library that will later expand with some Netflix roots.
