Meta has announced that a ‘configuration change’ was the reason behind the global Instagram outage.
As The Verge reports, the company said it has fixed the issue that made Instagram and Facebook inaccessible for some users for a while.
When trying to load any site on a desktop browser or display, the affected users were faced with errors like “Page not available” or “Feed not refreshing”.
But there were some users who were not affected and were able to load all of Meta’s services without issue.
Thousands of users from India and many parts of the world reported problems with the application.
On Downdetector, an online platform that provides users with real-time information about the status of various websites and services, over 900 users in India reported problems accessing Instagram.
Several users took to microblogging platform Twitter to report the issue.
“Instagram freezes using Google Chrome browser. Can’t view stories or open users’ pages. It keeps loading,” one Instagram user said in a tweet.
“Everything stopped working. Force shutdown and cleared cache. Even restarted my phone. Can’t see notifications. Can’t reply to comments,” commented another user.
During the last Instagram outage, which happened in September, around 34,000 users reported having problems accessing the platform.
