Mercedes-Benz launches GLB, EQB electric SUVs in India, prices start at Rs 63.8 lakh

Mercedes Benz launched the GLB SUV in India today. The seven-seater SUV comprises three models – Mercedes-Benz GLB 200 (Petrol), Mercedes-Benz GLB 220d (Diesel), and Mercedes-Benz GLB 220d 4MATIC (Diesel). Apart from this, the luxury carmaker also launched the Mercedes Benz EQB in India, which is the first seven-seater SUV by the company in the electric vehicle segment.

Launching its seven-seater SUV in India, Mercedes-Benz said that it has already installed 30 ultra-fast chargers in India and plans to install 10 more ultra-fast chargers across the country by the end.
By 2022, the total number of charging points in the country has gone up to 140. The company also said that the customers will receive a complimentary AC wallbox with the Mercedes-Benz EQB and can also avail complimentary charging for the first year of car ownership.

Mercedes Benz GLB, EQB Pricing

As far as pricing is concerned, Mercedes-Benz said that the GLB 200 will start from Rs 63.8 lakh (ex-showroom) in India, while the GLB 220d will start from Rs 66.8 lakh (ex-showroom) and the GLB 220d 4MATIC (ex-showroom ) will start from . Ex-showroom) with prices starting at Rs 69.8 lakh (ex-showroom). The Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC, on the other hand, will start from Rs 74.5 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.

Features of Mercedes Benz GLB

The Mercedes Benz GLB features a body shell of modern mild steel construction. It has an upright front section and gets optical underride guards and protective cladding all around. Its overall dimensions are closer to the GLC and it offers a maximum boot capacity of 1680L. All versions of the GLB series offer up to seven seats which include a third seat row with two additional individual seats. The second seat row has a 40:20:40 folding split and can be moved forward 90mm and rear 50mm. Both the second and third row seats can be folded down for additional boot space.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the GLB 200 is powered by a 1332cc four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 120Kw of peak power at 5500rpm and 250Nm of peak torque at 4000rpm. The two-wheel drive SUV gets a 7G-DCT transmission. It reaches 0 to 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds and offers a top speed of 207 km/h.

The GLB 220d, on the other hand, is powered by a 1950cc four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 140Kw of peak power at 3800rpm and 400Nm of peak torque at 2600rpm. The two-wheel drive SUV offers 8G-DCT transmission. It reaches 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds and offers a top speed of 220 km/h.

Lastly, the GLB 220d 4MATIC is powered by a 1950cc four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 140Kw of peak power at 3800rpm and 400Nm of peak torque at 2600rpm. The four-wheel drive SUV offers 8G-DCT transmission. It reaches 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds and offers a top speed of 217 km/h.

Mercedes Benz EQB 300 4MATIC Features

The Mercedes Benz EQB 300 4MATIC features the distinctive Mercedes-EQ black panel grille with a central star. The luxury SUV weighs 2175 kg and comes with a third seat row with two additional individual seats. The company says that the EQB 300 4MATIC is comparable to the GLB in dimensions and offers a maximum boot capacity of 1620L.

Coming to the engine, the Mercedes Benz EQB 300 4MATIC is powered by two motors – an asynchronous motor (ASM) at the front and a synchronous motor at the rear axle, giving the electric SUV a combined power output of 168kW and 390Nm of torque. , The all-wheel drive SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in eight seconds and can reach a top speed of 160 km/h.

Coming to the battery, the Mercedes Benz EQB 300 4MATIC is powered by a lithium-ion battery that delivers a maximum voltage of 367V and 66.5kWh of usable energy. It can be charged at home with up to 11kW of AC current using the onboard charger. Cars charge faster at direct current (DC) fast-charging stations. Mercedes-Benz said that the EQB 300 can charge with 4MATIC DC charging with a maximum power of up to 100kW, wherein it goes from about 10 percent charge to 80 percent charge in about 32 minutes.
