Mark Zuckerberg has good news for creators on Facebook and Instagram. The Facebook CEO said in a detailed post through his official account that the company will ban any revenue sharing revenue sharing on Facebook and Instagram by 2024. “We will prohibit any revenue sharing on Facebook and Instagram by 2024. That includes paid online events, subscriptions, badges and bulletins,” he wrote in the post.
In addition, Zuckerberg also announced new ways for creators to make money on the two social media platforms. The list includes features such as digital collectibles, stars and interoperable subscriptions among others. Zuckerberg said these features “will help creators build the Metaverse.”
New features coming to Facebook and Instagram
In total, the Facebook founder announced five new features for creators on Instagram and Facebook. here are the details:
Interoperable Subscriptions: The feature will let creators give their paying customers access to subscriber-only Facebook groups on other platforms.
Facebook Stars: Zuckerberg also said that the company is opening up its tipping feature called Stars to all eligible creators so that more people can start earning from their reel, live or VOD videos.
Monetization Reel: Additionally, the company is opening up the Reels Play bonus program for more creators on Facebook, which will allow creators to cross-post their Instagram reels to Facebook and monetize them there as well.
Producer Market: The Meta CEO said the company has begun testing a designated space on Instagram where creators can be discovered and paid, and where brands can share new partnership opportunities.
Digital Collectibles: Lastly, Zuckerberg said that the company is expanding support for Display NFT on Instagram to more creators. “We’ll be rolling this feature to Facebook soon – starting with a small group of US creators – so people can cross-post to Instagram and Facebook,” Zuckerberg wrote in a post.
