Mahindra XUV700 SUV gets over 1.5 lakh bookings, but long waiting period worries buyers

Mahindra XUV700 has registered a total of 1.5 lakh bookings since its launch. The automaker made the announcement through its official social media channel on Instagram. While the achievement is big for any new SUV, buyers are facing an extraordinarily long waiting period. The XUV700 is also suggesting a waiting period of two years in some cases.

In a social media post shared on Instagram, the MahindraXUV700 account said, “A milestone that reflects our excellence. It has crossed 1.5 lakh bookings here. We are grateful to all our customers for this overwhelming response.”

The SUV was launched in August last year and is gearing up to complete its first year. The company has reached this new milestone in terms of bookings before at least the first year anniversary.

The picture is not at all good for Mahindra. The company is currently struggling to deliver the booked vehicles. With the waiting period extending well into the two-year mark, Mahindra may lose a lot of these bookings to the competitors. In posts made on Instagram, several users have taken to the comments section to register their complaints about the extraordinarily long waiting period for the delivery of the SUV.

Mahindra, like other car makers, is also grappling with chip shortage. The company uses semiconductors to provide tech-latched cabins. The XUV700 comes in the top-tier variant with AdrenoX technology as well as ADAS features. This increases the dependence of the carmaker on semiconductors for timely manufacturing.

Reports have suggested that Mahindra’s SUV line-up has a total of 1.5 lakh pending deliveries. Most of the bookings come from Mahindra XUV700, Mahindra Thar and even XUV300, with over 90 per cent pending deliveries. The recent launch of Mahindra Scorpio N is expected to widen the gap between bookings and delivery.

The Mahindra XUV700 SUV was followed by over 1.5 lakh bookings, but buyers appeared first on BGR India due to the long waiting period.
