Kia India has announced that the Sonnet SUV has achieved the milestone of selling 1.5 lakh units since its launch in 2020. The car has managed to achieve these sales figures in less than two years of its launch in September 2020. A new milestone has been reached. At a time when the parent brand of Kia launched a new facelifted version of its compact SUV Venue. The Kia Sonnet SUV and Venue use the same platform as well as the same engine options. Kia claims that the Sonet has a market share of around 15 per cent in the compact SUV segment.
Kia has claimed that the Kia Sonnet has contributed more than 32 percent to the sales of the automobile company. The introduction of the new vehicle has also expanded the market for the compact SUV segment. The Sonnet was also one of the first cars to introduce IMT technology in India. Kia claims that 25% of the Sonet sold was equipped with the new IMT technology.
Additionally, the Kia Sonnet recorded the highest sales for its top variant. According to the company, the top variants contributed 26 per cent to the total sales. In terms of demand for automatic transmission, Kia Sonnet registered a sales growth of 22%. The Sonet has also been popular with diesel powertrains that contribute to 41% of the total sales. The two most preferred colors for the Sonnet are Glacier White Pearl and Aurora Black Pearl, which contribute 44% of the total dispatch.
The Kia Sonnet is offered in dual trim concept of Tech Line and GT-Line, with multiple powertrain options to suit almost all the requirements in this segment. With safety concerns rising, the Sonnet strengthens its value proposition in this segment with a minimum of four airbags as standard, even in the lower variants.
