OnePlus co-founder Carl Pay launched a new consumer technology brand called Nothing in 2020. The brand’s initial investors included big names like iPod inventor Tony Fadel, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lynn, Reddit CEO Steve Hoffman and YouTuber Cassie Nistat. Now, the company has announced a new list of investors added to the mix, including film director Karan Johar, cricketer Yuvraj Singh, fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, digital content maker Ranbir Allabadia and singer Jasleen Royal.
“The market is overwhelming for a new player to bring back the passion in consumer technology; Which celebrates artistry and hopes to organize our digital lives in one connected place. We are excited that our new strategic and private investors from India feel the same way and believe in our vision and goals. In 2021 we have successfully launched one of the most anticipated technology products of the year, Nothing Year (1) and we assure you, this is just the beginning, “said Manu Sharma, VP and General Manager, Nothing India.
The company has currently launched only one product, Nothing Year (1) TWS earbud. The Nothing ear (1) was re-launched in July and was priced at Rs 5,999. In November, the company raised the price of the device to Rs 6,999. The company had earlier announced that it had shipped more than 100,000 units worldwide within two months of the launch of Nothing ear (1).
Nothing ear (1) features a unique transparent design and charging case. They have 11.6mm drivers and a claimed battery life of up to 5 hours with continuous music playback and up to 34 hours with case. They come with ANC support, an IPX4 water resistance rating and wireless charging support.
In other news, Nothing recently announced its partnership with Qualcomm. Under the partnership, Qualcomm will provide nothing with chipsets for several of their devices, which will launch next year.
