Reliance Jio on Tuesday announced the launch of its True 5G services in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh. Inaugurated by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, Jio True 5G services are now available in Shimla, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Nadaun. As a part of the Jio Welcome Offer, users will be able to access the 5G network in these cities at no additional cost.
At the launch event, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh said, “I congratulate Jio and the people of Himachal Pradesh on the launch of Jio’s True 5G services in the state. This launch is an important milestone for the people of the state, who will immensely benefit from Jio’s 5G services.”
“We are excited to launch Jio True 5G services from Shimla, Hamirpur, Nadaun and Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh. Jio True 5G will digitally empower the people of the state with endless opportunities for growth across various sectors,” said a Jio spokesperson.
In addition, Reliance Jio also launched 5G services in 17 cities such as Ankleshwar, Savarkundla (Gujarat), Chhindwara, Ratlam, Rewa, Sagar (Madhya Pradesh), Akola, Parbhani (Maharashtra), Bathinda, Khanna, Mandi Gobindgarh (Punjab) . Bhilwara, Sri Ganganagar, Sikar (Rajasthan), Haldwani-Kathgodam, Rishikesh and Rudrapur (Uttarakhand). This takes the total number of cities with Jio’s 5G coverage to 257.
To start using Jio’s 5G services, prepaid and postpaid customers need to check whether their phone supports 5G and runs compatible software. Except for phones from brands like Google, Asus, Honor and LG, all other 5G phones can run 5G services from both Reliance Jio and Airtel.
If you have a compatible 5G phone, you will need to request an invite for the Jio Welcome Offer from the MyJio app, which is available on both Android and iOS. If you are a prepaid user, then your number should also have a recharge of at least Rs 239. Once Jio has verified that you meet the criteria of the offer, the Jio Welcome Offer will be activated on your mobile number.
As a part of Jio Welcome Offer, you can access 5G internet for free. This means that whenever your phone is connected to Jio’s 5G network, the data you consume will not exhaust against your daily cap. This is in contrast to Airtel, which drains data from your account for consumption on its 5G network.
