Apple recently rolled out macOS Ventura to support MacBook laptops and Mac desktops. MacOS Ventura has a new Stage Manager feature that enables users to manage their work area on their Apple PC. With Stage Manager, users can easily switch between apps and windows by just clicking on them.
The Stage Manager displays all the apps and the windows currently in use with the window or app that the user is currently working on when displayed in the center. It also shows users update information for apps they are not working with.
If you’re new to macOS Ventura, here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can use Stage Manager on your Mac:
How to Enable Stage Manager on Your Mac
Step 1: Click on Control Center in the menu bar at the top
Step 2: Then click on Stage Manager option.
Step 3: Toggle the button on the screen to enable Stage Manager.
How to Organize Apps and Windows in Stage Manager
Here’s how you can organize apps and windows in Stage Manager:
- To move or resize the center window, drag the title bar to expand that side of the window.
- To create a window group, drag the thumbnail to the middle window, or press the Shift key while clicking the thumbnail.
— To remove a window from the group, drag it back into the thumbnail area.
— To drag an item to another window, hold the item on the thumbnail until its window is centered, then drop the item into the window.
— To send the window to the side as a thumbnail without switching windows, click the minimize button in the corner of the window, or press Command-M. - Press Command-H to hide the app’s thumbnail and window. When an app isn’t visible because it’s hidden or hasn’t been used recently, you can switch to that app in other ways, such as from the Dock or by pressing Command-Tab.
How to Change Stage Manager Settings
Step 1: Select Apple menu at the top.
Step 2: Tap on System Settings option.
Step 3: Click Desktop & Dock in the sidebar.
Step 4: Now click on the Customize button appearing right next to Stage Manager on the right side.
Step 5: Next, choose the option that suits you best:
- Toggle the Recent Applications button to ensure that thumbnails remain visible, unless covered by a window. Alternatively, you can turn it off to make sure thumbnails are hidden until you move your pointer to the left edge of the screen.
-
Toggle off Desktop items to make sure items are visible on your desktop. You can also turn them off to make sure items on your desktop stay hidden until you click on your desktop.
-
In the Show windows from an application option, select ‘All at once’ if you want the app in the center of the screen to show all its windows at the same time. Alternatively, you can select ‘One at a time’ if you want the center of the screen to show its one window at a time.
