Google announced last year that it was shutting down its cloud-based game streaming service, Google Stadia. As of today, there are 10 days left before Google completely shuts down the service. Before Google Stadia takes off for Google, here are five important things you should know about it:

  • Google begins issuing refunds for Stadia purchases starting November 9th, 2022. These refunds cover all game purchases, add-on content, and subscription fees for games in the Store.

— Google isn’t refunding fees for its Stadia Pro subscription service. But there is a catch. The company said it will not refund fees for Stadia Pro subscriptions issued before September 29, 2022. However, the Stadia Pro subscription fee will not be charged after September 29, 2022. “Any Pro subscription charges made on or after September 29, 2022 (midnight PST) will be refunded,” the company said.

Google also said that it would also offer refunds for any hardware purchased by users. This means that if a user has purchased a Stadia controller, they will be refunded for it. “We are working through this process and still expect to have processed most refunds by January 18, 2023,” the company said.

Additionally, Google will also refund all in-game purchases that users have made through the Stadia Store. Devices eligible for a refund include Stadia controllers, Founders Edition, Premiere Edition, and the Play and Watch with Google TV package.

  • Players can use the Stadia controller when connected via USB-C to a compatible USB-C or USB-A device.
