After the company announced the release of Android 13 (Go Edition), Google has announced that over 250 million monthly active devices are powered by Android Go. The tech giant focused on three key qualities in Android 13- reliability, usability and customization.
Android 13 adds Google Play system updates to Go devices, which help ensure that the device is frequently receiving critical software updates. The company said that the Go Edition comes with built-in intelligence that helps in making better use of the phone.
According to the Google blogpost, “This will make the delivery of important updates quick and simple without compromising on the storage availability on the device. The result is a phone that stays up to date with the times – and you don’t have to wait for the next release or a software push from your phone’s manufacturer to get the latest and greatest.”
The update brings a ‘Discover’ feature, which allows users to swipe right from the home screen to view a curated list of articles and other content.
The new release features Material U, which allows users to customize their smartphone’s color scheme to match the wallpaper. According to Google, “In addition to creating a beautiful home screen, dynamic color really helps to make your smartphone feel unique to you.”
After setting the wallpaper image, users will get four respective color schemes to choose from. This helps to make the device feel unique to the user.
Additionally, the Android 13 Go edition operating system brings some of the key features of Android 13 such as notification permissions and app language preferences to budget smartphones.
“With this release we aim to support more possibilities for the millions of current and future owners of Android Go devices,” the company said in a blogpost.
“Look for new devices launching with Android 13 (Go edition) in 2023,” it added.
