Google Meet is an incredibly useful video conferencing platform that makes it easy to meet up with distant family members and coworkers. It offers a bouquet of features and functionalities that make it easy for the users to understand the conversation going on in the meeting, even if it is not in the language that a particular user primarily uses. Case and point, live translated caption feature. It allows users to understand the conversation in a meeting in real time by showing captions in the language of their choice.
But there’s a caveat. This feature is currently available in select languages. Users can use Translated Captions to translate English to or from these languages: French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. On the other hand, users can use Translated Captions to translate English into these languages: Japanese (available on desktop and Android); Mandarin, Simplified (available on desktop and Android); and Swedish (available on desktop and Android).
Also, this facility is available for Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Teaching and Learning Upgrade and Education Plus customers only.

How to turn on live translated captions in Google Meet on your computer
Step 1: Open Google Meet on your computer.
Step 2: In your meeting, click the More Options button.
Step 3: Now click on the Settings button.
Step 4: In the Settings menu, go to the Captions option.
Step 5: Now toggle the button to turn on captions.
Step 6: Now, select the “Language of the meeting”.
Step 7: Next, toggle on the Translated Captions button.
Step 8: Select the language to translate.
How to turn on live translated captions in Google Meet on Android
Step 1: When you’re in a meeting, on your Android device, tap the screen to display call controls.
Step 2: Now, tap on More control option and then tap on Settings option.
Step 3: Now toggle off the button to turn on the Live Caption functionality.
Step 4: Next, choose the language of the call closed captions.
Step 5: Tap Save.
Step 6: Now, tap on the Translate Language option.
Step 7: Select the language in which you want to translate the conversation and then tap on Save.
Step 8: To return to the main screen, tap the Close button.
How to turn on Live Translated Captions in Google Meet on iOS
Step 1: When you’re in a meeting, on your iOS device, tap the screen to display call controls.
Step 2: Now, tap on the More control option and then tap on the Settings button.
Step 3: Next, toggle off the button to turn on Live Captions.
Step 4: Select the language of the call closed caption.
Step 5: To go back to the previous screen, tap on the back arrow.
Step 6: Now tap on the translate language option on your screen.
Step 7: Next, select the language in which you want to translate the conversation.
Step 8: To go back to the previous screen, tap on the back arrow.
Step 9: To return to the main screen, tap the Close button.
