Google Maps has announced that the new Google Street View feature will now be available in India. Google announced new features for Street View at the Google I/O held earlier this year. The company will partner with mapping solutions company Genesis International and Tech Mahindra to introduce this feature. Google Street View offers a 360-degree view of streets and public buildings, giving users a better experience of the place.

Starting today, Street View will be available on Google Maps with fresh imagery licensed from local partners covering over 150,000 km across ten cities in India. Earlier, the Google Street View feature was not allowed in India as government policies do not allow foreign firms to own the country’s imagery data. However, the new National Geospatial Policy, 2021, allows such products, as long as foreign firms do not have such data. Tech Mahindra and Genesis International have made this switch possible.

Here are the 10 cities where Google Street View will be available:

-Bangalore
Chennai
-Delhi
-Mumbai
-Hyderabad
-Pune
-Nasico
-Vadodara
-Ahmednagar
amritsari

Google, Genesys International, and Tech Mahindra plan to expand it to over 50 cities by the end of 2022. Google claims that this India launch is the first time in the world that Street View is being brought to life completely by local partners.
