Facebook is hiring for 10,000 positions: Learn more

Personal data of more than 1.5 billion Facebook users was up sale on Hacker Forum: Report

Social media giant Facebook has officially announced the recruitment of 10,000 people who will help the company build its Metavers platform. For the unconscious, Metavers is essentially a new phase of interconnected virtual experience with the help of technologies like Facebook’s virtual and augmented reality.

According to the company, the next computing platform has the potential to help unlock access to new creative, social and economic opportunities. “We are announcing plans to create 10,000 new highly skilled jobs in the European Union (EU) over the next five years,” said Nick Clegg, Facebook’s VP Global Affairs.

“Beyond emerging technological talent, the EU also has an important role to play in shaping new rules for the Internet,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

No company owns and operates Metaverse. Like the Internet, its main feature will be its openness and inter-operability.

Bringing it to life will require the cooperation and collaboration of companies, developers, manufacturers and policy makers.

For Facebook, it will require continued investment in product and technology talent as well as growth across the business.

“As we embark on the journey to bring Metavers to life, the need for highly specialized engineers is one of Facebook’s most important priorities,” Clegg said.

In September, Facebook announced that they would invest 50 50 million in a partnership with the organization to responsibly create Metavers.

“Metavers” is a set of virtual spaces where one can create and explore with other people who are not in the same physical space.
