Instagram has announced that it is testing a new collab feature in India and the UK. The new feature will allow users to collaborate with others on feed posts and reels.
Instagram Collab Features: How it works
The company, which owns Facebook, said in a statement that anyone with ‘Collab’ could invite a poster and a relay collaborator.
“Collaboration is a big part of how people connect with Instagram. With ‘Collab’ you can invite a collaborator to your feed posts and reels so they can share content with their followers,” Instagram said.
After accepting the invitation, the collaborator will be shown as an author and the content will be shared with followers on their profile grid and feed. As mentioned earlier, the feature is only being released in two countries so far. “It’s now testing with a small percentage of our global community,” Instagram quoted testing
If you live anywhere in these two countries, here’s how you can use Instagram’s new Colab feature.
Instagram Collab Features: How to use it
Step 1- Open an Instagram account, and click Post or Relay
Step 2- Once you have shared a post or created a reel, you will get the tag guy option.
Step 3- Click the Invite Collaborators tab and tap the Tag People option to invite a collaborator.
Step 4- Search for the account you want to add as a partner. Once they accept the invitation, they will be added as co-authors and you will see it in the title of the shared post.
Significantly, this is not the first time that Instagram has come up with a feature specifically for users in India. The social media platform last year introduced a new short video format ‘Reels’ that enables users to create and post short videos. Instagram went a step further by launching a separate tab for ‘Reels’ in India. Nevertheless, after the ban on Tiktok in India, Instagram has no doubt taken the opportunity to enter the largest online marketplace.
