Online fraud has become relatively common in India. Now, in yet another such incident, a Delhi man got detergent soap instead of the laptop he had ordered during Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale. The Big Billion Days sale is going on on the platform from September 23 to September 30.

In the incident that was first spotted by 91Mobiles, Yashasvi Sharma, a Delhi-based man, bought a laptop for his father during the ongoing Flipkart sale. However, instead of getting the laptop he had ordered, the man got detergent soap. In a worrying post on LinkedIn, the man claimed that a Flipkart customer care executive refused him a refund based on the ‘open-box’ delivery system.

“No refund is possible. Your father should not have given the OTP without checking the laptop. This is our final stand. The matter cannot be taken any further,” a Flipkart customer care executive reportedly told Sharma.

For Unverse, the ‘open-box’ delivery system requires the customer to share the OTP with the delivery executive once they open the box in front of the executive and are satisfied with the product they have received.

“My father’s mistake is that he assumed the package – coming from a #flipkart sure seller – would have a laptop and no detergent. Why couldn’t the delivery boy inform the receiver about the open box concept before asking for OTP?” he wrote in a post on LinkedIn.

Later, Sharma shared an update on the post in which he said that he contacted the delivery boy again, who said that “he himself was not aware of the concept of the open box and admitted that the package was inspected in front of him”. had not been.” After this a relative lodged a complaint with the local police station with relevant evidence. After registering the complaint, a customer service executive of Flipkart contacted them to inform that the refund has been processed.

In another update, Sharma mentioned that he has received a full refund from Flipkart. The e-retailer also said that they have initiated action against the seller. “We have identified the issue and have also initiated action against the wrong side,” the company told Sharma.
