Asus launches 4 Chromebook laptops for students starting at Rs 17,999

The bottom end of the laptop market is buzzing with Chrome OS laptops this year and the latest to join the Asus party. The company has just released four new Chromebook models with different features and specs, ranging from Rs 17,999 to Rs 24,999. Unlike HP, Asus relies solely on Intel power for all models launched today.

Before moving on to the features, here are all the prices. The Asus Chromebook C223 is priced at Rs 17,999 while the Chromebook C423 (non-touch model) is priced at Rs 19,999. Then there is the non-touch variant of the Chromebook C523 which is priced at Rs 20,999. The Touch variants of the Chromebook C423 and Chromebook C523 are priced at Rs 23,999 and Rs 24,999 respectively. The Chromebook Flip C214 is a convertible model priced at Rs 23,999.

All these models will be sold through Flipkart from July 22 at 12 noon.

Asus Chromebooks C223, C423 and C523

Asus says that the Chromebooks C223, C423 (Touch and Non-Touch variants) and C523 (Touch and Non-Touch variants) can be fully charged for up to 10 hours. The Chromebook C423 and C523 models can be opened 180 degrees to keep a desk flat. All of these models feature full-HD resolution as standard.

Asus is using Intel’s 4-bit dual-core Selenor processor with 4GB of RAM as standard and 322GB of onboard storage on the C223, while the C423 and C523 models have 64GB of storage. Asus allows storage expansion up to 2TB via a microSD card. All of these models have an HD camera and stereo loudspeakers as well.

Since Chrome OS is running, users will have direct access to all Google Play apps and games. Those who use Android smartphones may also experience higher device integration.

The Chromebook C214 is a unique offer in this category, Asus said it is a ragged laptop with military-grade durability certificate. The laptop has an 11.6-inch display with no touch input. The device is powered by Intel’s 4-bit Celeron dual-core processor and comes with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. 64GB storage comes as standard and it can be expanded up to 2TB.

The 50Wh battery in this laptop promises 11 hours of battery life on a full charge. Despite the durable design, Asus has given it a 360 degree hinge to allow students to use it as a tablet. The laptop has an HD 720p webcam and stereo loudspeaker for attending classes and meetings. There is also a world-class 5MP autofocus camera for photo and video capture.
