Apple has released the new iOS 14.8 update for humans. The update before the official iOS 15 release is quite abrupt, not bringing new features to the table. However, important security updates have been provided here and should be downloaded now.
A report by CitizenLab Recommends that the update fixes vulnerabilities that recently led to the zero-day attack. It is believed that it was used to attack the same Bahraini operatives who hacked the NSO group’s Pegasus spyware.
IOS 14.8 Released: What’s New?
It has been revealed that the new iOS 14.8 update contains a solution to the graphics and webkit vulnerabilities that “can be actively exploited.” The core graphics issue leads to “arbitrary code execution” after processing a malicious PDF. Webkit vulnerabilities do the same thing through malicious web content.
Evan Christie, head of Apple Security Engineering and Architecture, said in a statement, “After quickly identifying the vulnerabilities used by this exploit for iMessage, Apple quickly developed and installed a fix in iOS 14.8 to protect our users. I would like to commend Citizen Lab for completing this so that we can quickly create this solution.
Beyond that, Apple has released iPadOS 14.8, which also addresses the aforementioned issues.
Newer versions of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 have begun to launch. Those who want to download it can go to the Settings app> tap General Options> select Software Update and install the new update.
The update is available for iPhone 6S and later, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 4 and later and iPod Touch (7th generation).
While iOS 15 is set to be released soon, it may come as a surprise, however, that Apple will be considering choosing between iOS 1 and 15.
The post was released by Apple iOS 14.8 and its update you need to download was first published in BGR India.
