Apple has increased the prices of its audio products in India due to hike in customs duty. These audio products include the second and third generation AirPods, AirPods Max and AirPods Pro. Although Apple hasn’t officially announced the price hike, it is now visible on Apple’s website. Notably, these products are still available at the old price on Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital and other websites.
For the oblivious, the increase in duties was announced in March during the Budget. This hike in prices of electronics such as solar cells, speakers, earphones and more will also be affected from April 1 due to increase in customs duty on imported parts.
During Budget 2022, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said, “The customs duty rates are being calibrated to provide a graded rate structure to facilitate domestic manufacturing of wearables, listening devices and electronic smart meters. ”
He further said, “Duty concessions are being given on transformer parts of mobile phone chargers and camera lenses of mobile camera modules and some other items. This will help in domestic manufacturing of high growth electronic items.”
Apple AirPods 2, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max: New Price
The second generation of Apple AirPods is now selling for Rs 14,100, up from Rs 12,900. The price has been increased by Rs 1,200. On the other hand, the third generation AirPods are now available for Rs 20,500, an increase of Rs 2,000. Earlier their price in India was Rs 18,500.
Notably, the third-gen AirPods are selling on Flipkart for Rs 17,990 while the second-gen AirPods are priced at Rs 12,058.
Talking about Apple AirPods Pro, now they cost you Rs 26,300, which is Rs 1,400. Earlier their price in India was Rs 24,900. These are available on Flipkart for Rs.20,900.
Lastly, the AirPods Max headset was earlier available for Rs 59,900 and is now available at Rs 66,100. Its price has been increased by Rs 6,200 due to custom duty. These Apple headsets are currently available on Flipkart for Rs.59,900.
