Amazon confirms the success of the Great Indian Festival sale: Consumers, sellers and brands benefit from huge margins

heroine announced on Thursday that its Great Indian Festival sale for the year was the biggest shopping fest ever for both its vendors and brand partners. The shopping portal also revealed that this year’s festive sale has benefited women entrepreneurs by a huge margin. Consumer buying also increased due to the availability of various buying options like pay later, EMI and bank discounts.

Local sellers became millionaires, women entrepreneurs sold 6 products every minute

Due to the successful sale, hundreds of small and local sellers have reportedly become millionaires. Women entrepreneurs also participated in the sale under the Amazon Saheli program and were able to sell 6 products per minute.

Over 35,000 sellers saw the highest ever single-day sales and over 650 sellers became millionaires and 23,000 sellers became millionaires. Local stores also participated in the sale and saw an increase of 2x higher than the average business day. They sold 8 products every minute.

Prime subscription growth with most sign-ups from tier 2-3 cities

In addition, consumers added to the sales success by purchasing from various vendors using Prime subscriptions and bank discounts higher than last year. Of the above Prime subscriptions, some were also from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities/cities such as Agartala, Bellary, Cuttack, Warangal, Jalgaon and Bhilwara.

80 percent of smartphone sales came from the segment below Rs 15,000

In addition, consumers also made use of Amazon’s Pay Later as there was a 4X increase in registrations for the service during this festive sale. More than 80 percent of smartphone sales on Amazon were in the under Rs 15,000 category. These also include 5G Device. Consumers reportedly preferred Xiaomi, Realme, iQOO, OnePlus, Apple and Samsung, especially the M series.

Consumer electronics and large appliances were also popular in the festive sale.

Consumer electronics such as laptops, wearables, headphones and tablets were the preferred products by Indians in sales. For laptops, people preferred HP, Asus and Lenovo. Sony, Boat, Noise, and Firebolt were preferred for wearables. Apple was also one of the brands chosen by the people.

Home appliances like ACs, double-door refrigerators and washing machines were sold in 75 percent more pin codes than on an average business day. Lastly, consumers bought Amazon’s own Echo, Fire TV, and Kindle every 4 seconds in the festive sale. Alexa also helped consumers resolve their queries, which helped them make purchase decisions.
