Bharti Airtel on Wednesday announced that it has crossed the one million unique 5G user mark on its network, as the telecom operator rolls out 5G services in a phased manner.
The company said it achieved the feat less than 30 days after its commercial launch, even as the network was being built.
“Our network is being built every day, even as all 5G devices are now able to work on the Airtel 5G Plus network, with a few exceptions that should also be done in the coming weeks. Randeep Sekhon, CTO, Bharti Airtel said, “We will continue to grow our network with the vision of connecting the entire nation.
Earlier this month, Airtel launched 5G services in Delhi, Mumbai Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur and Varanasi.
Services are being rolled out in these cities in a phased manner as the company continues to build out its network and complete the rollout.
“These are early days, but the customer response has been very encouraging,” Sekhon said.
The company promises with 20 to 30 times higher speeds than current speeds, great voice experience and super-fast call connections.
Customers who have 5G smartphones will enjoy the high-speed Airtel 5G Plus on their existing data plans until the roll-out becomes more widespread.
There is no need to change the SIM as the existing Airtel 4G SIM is 5G enabled.
Airtel 5G Plus will allow superfast access for high-definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, quick uploading of photos and more.
